Arena Day a Blast!
By Dave Freeman
The obstacle course / trail practice at Tracy Ross’s Arena was FUN!!
Yup…Really, just plain fun! People coming, people going, people pulling,
people being pulled and oh ya, Tracy stopped the show by being trampled,
well not exactly, but it looked that way! Tracy will do anything to put on a
successful event!!!
The weather even worked out for us!
We had a mini donkey pulling a cart and in hand, a giant mule and donkeys
both young and ancient. Everyone got all the time they needed to work their
animals and all made great progress!! What a great way to start the season. |

Time to get your show ideas
started! Well…. It’s time to wake up those
old gray cells upstairs and think of what you need for your group on the up
coming fall show.
Mini’s, mules, drivers, and all the other asses… what do you want for
this year’s show. It’s your call, so make the most of it! Bring your ideas
to the next meeting that you can make or maybe use the E-mail list to get
your ideas out!
Speaking of that E-mail list, don’t be petrified to use it. I know that I
must come to grips that I should write back on that #%#@ internet more
(some?). So I’ll going to try to use the E-mail more in the future. Maybe
you can give it a whirl ?!? And, we’re still attempting to make the club
letter all internet, so if you know a member that has email, and we don’t
have it, please pass it on! |

Mule Days People Organize!

EARS Club Logo Contest
Those of you who can
draw or work a computer, than is this is your chance for world fame.! You
have a great opportunity to be the artist of the EARS Logo. Yes you heard
right! All you have to do is scribble something down that we all like and
YOU, YES YOU, could be famous (sort of) Nothing to it!! Bring it to the next
EARS Meeting and see if it can beat my stick drawings…
If you have a particular logo or artwork or style, please E-mail your
stuff to
artois@justice.com or
wildzone@pulsarco.com or send it on a
CD disk.
For the rest of us who still use typewriters, telephones and the US mail,
send what you have on that old fashioned and obsolete media, paper and
ink, to…..

Dave Freeman, Box 317, Artois CA 95913 I will do my best. |

Red Bluff Round
Up Parade Amazing! People. I have a problem with
people. Not persons, mind you, but people and especially large groups of
people! Well, I get the willies…. But not at the Red Bluff Round Up Parade.
Well we had a great time!!! The crowd didn’t attack and didn’t throw
anything dangerous. I have to admit it, I actually looked forward to the
Chico Parade this last Saturday! Well …maybe I was not as scared.
CHICO PARADE HIT!
EARS ENTRY WINS TROPHY!
Yep, we did well! The EARS riding entry won for the most unique riding
entry!

Pack Clinic on Mother’s day.
What a great way to spend Mothers Day with your pack gear!!
Honest this wasn’t my idea, but WOW!!
Dust off that gear, if you have it and if you don’t have the gear, show
up anyway… It’s at Sal Rhymes’ 25371, Los Molinos on 2nd
If you’d like, bring pack saddle, panniers, mantee, lash chinch, and lash
rope. There will be donkeys and gear for people to practice on. |

Computer Problems Halt April EARS
Newsletter
The two boxes of electrical circuits that make the EARS newsletter
possible got mad at each other and started a feud. It was the Hatfield’s and
the McCoy’s of electronic gadgetry. Well, a Wiz kid has fixed the problem
and maybe these machines will settle down and be happy.

COME WITH
YOUR EVENT IDEAS TO THE NEXT MEETING Sunday at
Sal Rhymes place in Los Molinos, starting with the pack clinic at 11 a.m. |
Bill Clarke #1 wins Magalia, Ca.
Donkey Derby top prize!!! Just thought I'd
brag, and let you know Bill and "Black Jack" came in first in this year's
44th Annual Donkey Derby up in Magalia. It was pretty exciting, even
though it was pouring down rain. There were 11 entries this year (down
from 14 last year) probably because of the weather. He got a great
trophy (donkey statue) and $500 in gold! The race recreates when and
how a 54 lb. gold nugget was found in Magalia back in the 1850's.
